Cook Straight Giant Weta

I recently completed this pair of Cook Straight Giant Weta in Bronze. I have to admit, When I first started doing weta I was like most people; weta were disgusting, scary little beasts.
But as I studied them, and looked at their structure, textures, and tiny intricate details, I became truly amazed at these awsome creatures.

The Cook Straight Giant Weta are gentle giants. They have suffered greatly from predation by rats, stoatss and others, but are making a good comback on Islands where there is vermin control.

The pair

pictured are a male and a female, the female has a long ovipostor for laying her eggs into loose soil.
